Amphibian Metamorphosis Assay (AMA) is a non-standard aquatic ecotoxicology study designed to assess the effects of a chemical on amphibian metamorphosis. Xenopus laevis (African clawed frog) tadpoles are exposed to three different concentrations of a test chemical and examined after 21 days for proper development. Following this, thyroid examinations are conducted.
