IOBC: Ladybird (coccinella septempunctata)

The IOBC: Ladybird test assesses the effect of a substance on mortality of ladybird larvae and pupae, and the reproductive performance of adult ladybirds. Larvae are exposed to the test substance dried onto glass plates or leaves, and mortality of larvae and pupae is assessed regularly until adults 'hatch' from the pupae (ecdysis). Subsequent egg laying by the adults and egg hatching is measured over 2 weeks to assess reproductive performance.
